Non-Housing First
Support & Life Skills Workshops/Training
Imminent Risk of Homelessness:
- People who are unable to secure permanent housing because they do not have sufficient resources or support networks immediately available to prevent them from moving to an emergency shelter or a public or a private place not meant for human habitation.
- Couch surfing.
- Precariously housed.
- Adults (18+) residents of Winnipeg.
Objectives
- To create a sense of belonging in the Centre and within the community.
- To offer services that enhance community and social participation.
Programs & Services
Enrollment in the Stepping Forward Programs include one-to-one counselling, access to drop-in, and a variety of group workshops.
Drop-In
- Social and Community Engagement
Non-Housing First Supports
Available for participants who do not qualify for housing first programs and referred through End Homelessness.
- Home Visits
- One-to-one counselling
- Advocacy services
- Referral services
Life Skills
- Life skills training
- Focus on personal development
- Addictions support
- Harm reduction approach to substance use.
- One-to-one meetings and specific workshops.
- Employment readiness
- Pre-employment preparation.
- Skills building for people to adjust to independent living.

All intakes for the Stepping Forward Programs are done through Naatamooskakowin (Winnipeg Coordinated Access Points)
